Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker and consultant, a columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television presenter. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had signed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. In times, her family relied upon deliveries of food that was free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her fatheras one who would drink too much, and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had several drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and she was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after she had left her Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she received a grade of D.
